| I work in a small studio creating original, one of a kind pieces of furniture in wood. My background in 18th century American antiques has deeply influenced my work. When I first opened my shop I made very strict reproductions of important antiques. More recently I desired to make my own mark in the world of furniture design. I begin with traditional designs and give them a contemporary twist. What is never changed is the level of craftsmanship that was employed by colonial craftsmen. Hand cut dovetails as well as mortise and tenon joints are used throughout. I also prefer the use of traditional finishing material such as shellac and varnish.
